Classic Spy:-)
Don't mess with XP6!

All Hallow's Eve

Well here we are again at the night that all us good Christian folks pull out our costumes of all styles , theme and description and decorate our normally welcoming homes with all things possible to spread fear. All so we can celebrate a truly pagan holiday. Kids are jumped up on sugar and adults have a reason to get up off the couch and interrupt their dinner to ogle at young kids trolling for loot. Ahh, if only October 31 could come more often:-)

All sarcasm aside, Halloween is always a fun time of year and a great time of year to dig out the camera. Remember these innocent (and sometimes scary) moments in your child's life. It only comes once a year and a new theme is set for each time, so have fun. Bring them into character, bump your ISO and open your aperture and use that natural night lighting for dramatic effects (remember to keep your shutter at 100++, just to be safe), use unusual angles and drag the shutter to catch action. Of course the success of your photos depends on the co-operation of your kids. Don't pressure them, it is a night for fun, so get what you can and then make sure you stocked on candy for the oncoming barage:-)

P.S. If you can't tell, my little guy, Jaron, was a spy..XP6..for Halloween:-)

The Artistic Standard...take the Ol' Standard and add new angles, compositions and posing....modernize the antique:-)

The Documentarian....a posed action shot attempting to look unposed...let the imagination run:-)

The Voyeur...similiar to the Landscaper...step back and become as invisible as possible, then shoot.

The Ol' Standard...even though you consider yourself a creator and an artist, don't...and I mean don't forget to get at least one simple posed shot. People want them.
Sex Sells.....don't be afraid to bring passion into the photos..after all they are married now:-)

The Storyteller...try to imagine you're making a movie..yep, you've got the idea.
The Landscaper....while not losing the bride and groom in the scenery, the surroundings, be it trees, a river, or a cutting street scene are a major focal point in the picture.

In the following images, I will show a few of the styles I use quite often. As with any type of photography, each image is a new experience, with a new result, but many of the themes are common.

Back to the Weddings

After another busy weekend, I now have time for another post. Picking up where we left off, discussing wedding photography and the aspects thereof. Before the concert break, I had shown a few examples of how I like to bring out the fun side of the wedding party by breaking down the expectations brought on by traditional pose and shoot styles. If you give the unexpected then people will loose inhibitions and have fun...I guarantee it:-)
This post is dealing with the posing of the bride and groom. If the bride is the star of the day, the groom is a strong supporting cast and this is a place where you will find your energies should be applied the most. They are the ones who hired you (in most cases) and they should get there moneys worth, plus, the most important part of wedding photography is not just capturing the moments, but the romance, on the most romantic day of there lives.

The Wedding Party

Of all my portraits, I have to say, the wedding party portrait is the time to have fun and let my personality and vision really take hold. After the rather static "family" portion of the day, I like to really have fun and let my clients and there friends loosen up and be themselves. That being said, they are all staged, but by taking the "portrait" element away, the natural feeling comes through.

The Wedding

As a multi-faceted business, Lucid Musings has several styles of photography and each will be shown on this blog as a introduction to what I do, but also as a way to begin discussion. The wedding photo is my first of a series of photos I will address.
