The Dufour Family

A little backtrack to a cooler weather portrait from April. Taken along the banks of the local Thames river, it was truly great to spend a bit of time with Mary, Eugene and Family. Thanks for your great smiles and all the best to Derek, Tanya and Britt in your ventures. May all your futures be bright:-)

Come Together Music Festival

Well, it is official, the festival season has started. For me, it was at the Come Together Music Festival, just outside Durham, Ontario. Usually a summer closer for me, I chose to open my summer this year with this twice a year 'Gathering of the Tribes'. A small and tightly knit festival, CTMF remains a well kept secret that brings together cross country talent, with a peppering of talent from South of the fourty-ninth. With acoustic, free-form and straight out kick you in the chin rock, the weekend offers a magnet for music lovers 'in the know'. The bands become the fans and the fans become the bands in a wonderful rotation of unassuming appreciation and expression. Put on by Mark Wilson, CTMF is offered in all its colourful free expression again this Labour Day Weekend.

Yay!! It's May!!

Ahhh...the warm weather has finally arrived..and not a minute too soon!
The annual exodus to the local garden stores has began, the lawn mowers have been tuned, the ball practices are in full swing and the street sweepers have wiped away winter and welcomed in spring in annual fashion. With the temperatures hitting the mid-twenties this week, shorts, sandals, summer holidays and roadtrips are just around the corner. Let the sun shine in:-)

To welcome in the Rite of Spring, summertimes' neighbour, here are some photos of the Mayday and Faeriefolk Festival, one of a number of well run family oriented events headed by a number of local visionaries determined to make St. Marys a truly one of a kind town (with special guest appearances by my wife-The Pied Piper-Donna and my son-Robin Hood-Jaron)

Spring Wedding Fashions

Wow, where exactly did April go? It has been almost an entire month since my last post, but it was not out of complacency. April really has been a wonderful month in all aspects, but my blog has taken a bit of a backseat to more pressing issues at hand. One of the most fullfilling projects I undertook in April was a 4 evening course on the basic aspects of digital photography. With 20 interested digicam compact and SLR touting people willing to put themselves at the whim of my attempt at teaching, we covered the basics of the camera, composition, and lightly touched on post-process editing and final output options. I never knew how great teaching can be (especially when you have students who REALLY want to learn). To be able to help someone begin to see the light, to point someone in the right direction, or to light a small fire that makes a person want to jump into something they have always had the instinct to, but just needed that verbal incentive is one of those end of the day satisfactions you don't get all the time. I am hooked and this fall will not only see a repeat of the basic level 'across the board' course, but as a result of interest, more focused 'hands on' shooting seminars will also be offered. Stayed tuned:-)
